The Childrens Center At Johns Hopkins

We are pleased to report that the Fund's efforts on behalf of The Children's Center At Johns Hopkins have been successfully completed. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. Details of our success appear below.

The Children's Center at Johns Hopkins received funds from the Maryland State Arts Council for a Poet-In-Residence Program grant, with matching funds provided by The Heather Joy Wilson Memorial Fund. The program has been underway and the Poet is almost complete with her patient visits.

The purpose of the Poetry-In-Residence Program is to provide pediatric patients with an opportunity to express their feelings about surgery or their illness and to write about happy places or experiences that alley their fears and offer hope for the future. In the past, this has been therapeutic for the children and has provided the staff with invaluable insights into how to help them.
